Doris L. Understock, 85, Doland, widow of Dean Understock, died on Wednesday afternoon, July 4, 2012 in the Golden Living Center at Redfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Robin Schaunaman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 10AM at the Church on Monday. Doris was born February 5, 1927 in Clark, South Dakota. She was one of 15 children of Ben and Olga (Bjerk) Larson. The family lived on a farm south of Clark in Merton Township growing up. Doris married Dean Understock on June 2, 1947 in Clark. They farmed in Clark and Spink counties until 1974. They retired from farming and moved to Doland, where Doris worked at local cafes. She enjoyed being around and meeting people, and always had a smile for everyone, second to none though was her love of family. A favorite pastime of hers was sitting and watching all the traffic go by. Grateful for sharing her life are her children Diane Lohr of Raymond, SD, Duane Understock of Brownwood, TX, David (Kelley Dennison) Understock of Doland, SD, Danny (Laurie) Understock of Pierre, SD, Dally Understock of Brownwood, TX, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister Edna Mehlberg of De Pere, WI, sisters-in-law Inez (Lawrence) Larson of Orion, Ill, Loretta (Milton) Larson, Muriel (Mike) Larson of Clark, SD, Doris (Pat) Larson of Orion, IL, Norma (Jack) Bailey, IL, Sylvia (Chink) Larson of Watertown, SD, Wilma Krueger of Hayti, SD, Arlene Crespo of Sacramento, CA and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Dean, her daughter Donna, siblings Lawrence Larson, Olaf "Ole" Larson, Ragna Peterson, Milton "Peanuts" Larson, Bernice Larson, Bernard "Pat" Larson, Bernell "Mike" Larson, Lester "Bud" (Joyce) Larson, Marvin "Son" (Shirley) Larson, Orland "Chink" Larson, Darlene "Doll" (Rich) Jones, Bernhardt Derrald Larson and Lavonne Larson, a son-in-law, Alan Lohr and brothers-in-law, Jack Bailey & Roland Mehlberg.
