She was born Doris Elaine Brenden on August 15, 1928 at Vienna, SD, the daughter of Sigurd and Jennie (Jorgenson) Brenden. She was schooled near Vienna graduating from Vienna High School. Following her high school education, she attended and graduated from the General Beadle Teachers College. She went on to teach in Fordham Township, southwest Clark County. On May 22, 1948 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Forest at the Vienna Lutheran Parsonage in Vienna. Following their marriage, the couple has lived in Clark since that time. Doris continued teaching for a time and then also was an aide in the Clark School system for 12 years. More important though to her and her family was being a stay at home mother to her three children. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Clark and the Esther Circle. Some of the groups in the community Doris was involved in were an extension club, a gourmet club and the bowling Hall of Fame. Doris enjoyed golfing, especially Ladies Night at the Clark Golf Club. Second to none though was her love of playing bridge, being a part of different bridge groups. Her family was also important to her, being proud of their many accomplishments. For several years they owned a cabin at Enemy Swim, filling every summer with activities for their children and grandchildren and getting in some fishing time too! After they sold the cabin, the family has spent several summer vacations in the Black Hills of South Dakota on Edelweiss Mountain. Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, Juliette Batty, Ruby Brenden, Arlene Kvernevig, Melfred, Iven, Dick & O'Dean Brenden. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband of over 63 years, Robert of Clark, children, Terry (Sue) Forest of Missoula, MT, Randy (Mary) Forest of Papillion, NE and Cathy (Richard) Long of Rapid City, SD, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and siblings, Inez (Melvin) Lambert of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Lyle (Florence) Brenden of Clark, Ellsworth (Genny) Brenden of Watertown, and Larry (Shirley) Brenden of Clark. She also leaves in-laws, Floriene Brenden of California, Mavis Brenden of Watertown, Barbara Brenden of Clark and Rodney Kvernevig of Bristol. Arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark.
