Dora A. Boynton, age 92, of Huron formerly of the Clark/Conde communities died in the Huron Nursing Home on Monday afternoon, January 9, 2006 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Earl and Basil Boynton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 10:30 AM in the Congregational United Church of Christ, 506 California Avenue SW in Huron with the Reverend Brian Grover officiating. Her son, Lay Pastor Donald Boynton will assist in leading the worship. A granddaughter, Robin Brening will be the pianist playing a solo "The Old Rugged Cross" and Dora's grandchildren will sing "Till the Storm Passes By". The organist will be Laurie Hamm. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Sunday at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron and 1 hour preceding the services at the Church on Monday. She was born in Clark County on December 28, 1913, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Hoover) Holmes. The family lived east of Clark where she attended school near Elrod. In the mid 1930's the family moved into Clark to the large two story home on east highway 212. On June 1, 1931 she was united in marriage to Earl Boynton at Aberdeen. He died in 1938. In 1943, on November 10, she married Earl's brother, Basil Boynton. The couple made their home in Clark until moving to Broadland, SD. Later they moved to a farm north of Raymond, near Conde. While living there, she was employed for a time in Redfield at the Developmental School as the head cook. After Basil's death in 1966 she continued living on the farm. She and a special friend, Lester Ragels, lived on the farm for many years. They enjoyed special times together fishing and camping. 'Let' died in 1992. In 2000 she moved to Huron. Dora will long be remembered for her love of gardening, often having up to three gardens on the farm. She also canned much of her home raised produce and also spent countless hours crocheting. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Charles Boynton and wife Nancy of Bath, Donald Boynton and wife Kay of Covington, OK and Doris Loban and husband Lyle of Huron. She also leaves her sisters, Iva Rasmussen and husband Harold of Watertown, Margaret Harrington of Arizona and Alice Cypher of Cold Springs, MN; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, sons, Victor and Allen, a granddaughter, Renee, brothers, Jim, Orville and Wayne Holmes and sisters, Della Holmes & Edna Jones.
