Donna Hanchett, age 82, Clark, widow of Harold, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 4-6 PM with a Liturgical Wake Service at 5:30PM all at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning after 10AM at the Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 11AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark with burial following in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark. Donna Mae Urdahl was born on May 29, 1931 at Crocker, SD, the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle (Devine) Urdahl. She attended school in Crocker through the second grade when the family moved to Clark where she then attended school and grew to adulthood. She was united in marriage to Harold E. (Tiny) Hanchett on September 10, 1948. They spent ten years in Minot, ND before moving to Livermore, CA. The family then moved to Clark in 1969 where they have resided since. Donna was employed by the Clark School District for 20 years. Donna resided in her home prior to moving to the Griffin Apartments and only recently had moved to the Wookey Assisted Living Center in Clark. Harold preceded her in death on March 25, 1982. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark and a member of the altar society. She was fortunate to be able to travel to Europe with her sister, Kathleen, in the early 90's and particularly enjoyed Italy and Switzerland. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four sisters, Karen Urdahl, Myrtis (Robert) Lyke, Shirley (Marvin) Larson and Bonnie Karber; brothers-in-law Bernard Mehlberg, James Peckham. Survivors grateful for having shared in her life are her children, David Hanchett of Watertown, Diane (Duane) Pietz of Watertown, Cherry (Bill) Kent of League City, TX, Teresa (Tom) Jastram of Sioux Falls, Michael Hanchett of Azle, TX and Vickie (Steve) Stern of Vacaville, CA ; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Mehlberg of Rapid City and Jackie Peckham of Clark; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Karber of Clark; two sisters in law, Nona Christiansen of OH and Donna Piagentini of Iowa; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral arrangements are announced by the Furness Funeral Home at Clark.
