Donald Clark Rusch

Donald C. "Don" Rusch, age 65, Raymond, died peacefully in the Sanford USD Medical Center on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from complete vital system shutdown.
Scripture services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with The Reverend John Short officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark.  There will be no visitation.
He was born Donald Clark Rusch on September 22, 1950 at Watertown, the son of Clark "Cap" and Teresa (DesLauriers) Rusch. Don was schooled at Raymond and then attended Clark High School graduating in 1968. After high school, he went to South Dakota State University from 1968-1973, majoring in economics, and then returned in the 1990's to work on his masters.
On November 27, 1977 he was united in marriage to Sherry Lynn Roberts at Brookings. The couple lived and farmed near Crandall until 1992 and then moved to Brookings where he sold insurance. After Sherry's death, Don continued living in Brookings until 1998 and he returned to the family home in Raymond. During his time at Raymond he held various employment in the area and then opened and operated the former grocery store in Raymond, renaming it to the Trading Post where he sold groceries, running a small café, and a place for locals to gather for coffee. He thoroughly enjoyed history of the area, collecting – well basically about anything, small tractors, and antiques. Due to severe health issues the past few years, Don was basically homebound.
He was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, 2 siblings in infancy – Clayton Julian in 1943 and Marcia Mary in 1959, and aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his sons, Jon Robert Rusch of Raymond, Jarred Allen Charles (Desiree) Rusch and their children, Parker Ray Stubbe and Crosby Wayne Rusch all of Rock Rapids, IA and a daughter, Jacqueline Marie Rusch of Brookings. Also surviving are his siblings, Norb (Dava) Rusch of Alexandria, MN and Jane (Steve) Mascia of Greensboro, NC and many cousins. He also leaves a surviving aunt, Valois Danekas of Clark.
