Donald W. Lobitz died April 2, 2005 in Santa Barbara, CA at the age of 85. He was born to Elsie (Behr) and Edward Lobitz who are deceased. Burial with graveside services and military rites by the Cagley-Smith American Legion Post of Clark will be held on Friday, April 15, 2005 at 11AM at Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Rev. Warren Rhodes will officiate. He served his country in WWII on the European front. After returning from the war he obtained a law degree from the University of South Dakota and subsequently served as municipal judge for the city of Watertown, SD for two four-year terms. After moving his family to Santa Barbara, CA, he held the position of Chief Deputy District Attorney for Santa Barbara County for a period of twelve years. After leaving the District Attorneys Office, he became a successful real estate broker for a number of years until his retirement. He was a very creative, industrious individual with a high work ethic, all of which were of great benefit in preparing his children for leading productive and successful lives of their own. He is survived by his wife, Jung (Kim) Lobitz and stepson, Seung; and three children from a previous marriage, Rebecca Clover and husband Steve of Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA, Don Lobitz and wife, Carmen of Albuquerque, NM,and Linda Boyter and husband, Robert of Camarillo, CA; a brother, Paul Lobitz and wife, Ivy of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Furness Funeral Home of Clark will be handling the local arrangements. There will be no local visitation. Email condolences at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
