Dick Dale Brenden, age 63, Clark, died at his home in Clark on Friday morning, April 6, 2007 from an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 11AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Gary Westgard officiating. Burial will be private. The organist will be Dorothy Fuller with the congregation singing "Amazing Grace", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "This Is My Father's World". Honorary casketbearers will be all family, friends and former and current co-workers. Active casketbearers will be Jerry Jewel, Joe Bjerke, Ricky Froke, Alan Albright, Gary Kvernevig, Tim Brenden and Dave Musser. Dick Dale Brenden was born on December 9, 1943, the son of Sigrud and Jennie Brenden. He grew to adulthood in the Bryant, SD area where he attended school through the 8th grade. Following his schooling he helped on the family farm until moving to Sioux Falls where he was employed at a sand pit. The owner operator of the sand pit had a niece by the name of Barbara Greenhagen whom Dick met. They were married at Chamberlain on April 29, 1962. This union was blessed with four children, Melvin, Valerie, David and Carrie Jo. Dick worked selling cars for many years in Clark and Watertown areas. He also worked driving truck for Dakota Style Chips and then in 1989 went to work for McCain Foods as a supervisor until the plant closed in 2001. A short time later he began his employment with O.E.M. Worldwide at Watertown as a line leader, which he held until his death. He will long be remembered as a people person who was always a positive thinker, someone who loved everyone - he throughly enjoyed his job and looked forward to going to work everyday, something not everyone can say. In his sparetime he enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his family, especially grandchildren, and friends. Dick enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley. He was a big fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and loved following them every season. Survivors include his wife Barb of Clark, children, Melvin Brenden of Lincoln, Nebraska, Valerie Voelsch and husband Michael of Watertown, David Brenden and wife Nannette of Desert Hot Springs, CA and Carrie Jo Madsen and husband Matthew of Horn Lake, Mississippi. He also leaves 15 grandchildren, Jordan, Chelsea, Makayla, Parker, Evan, Megan, Riley, Savannah, Alex, Amy, Bobby, Matthew, Emily, Nicholas and Kayla and his siblings, Lyle Brenden and wife Florence of Clark, Ellsworth Brenden and wife Genny of Watertown, Larry Brenden and wife Shirley of Clark, Juliette Batty of California, Doris Forest and husband Bob of Clark and Inez Lambert and husband Melvin of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and in laws, Floriene Brenden of California, Mavis Brenden of Watertown and Rodney Kvernevig of Bristol. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandchildren, Kali Jo Waege and Zachary Michael Voelsch, brothers, Melfred, Iven and O'Dean Brenden and sisters, Ruby Brenden and Arlene Kvernevig. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 1 hour preceding services at the Church Tuesday morning.
