Dianne Olson, age 73, of Clark, died early Friday morning, August 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of Clark with Pastor Mark Cronauer officiating. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery following the service and a lunch will be served after the burial at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Dianne Marie (Parmely) Olson was born on May 2, 1950, to F. LaVerne and Mary (Manning) Parmely in Miller, SD. She grew up on a farm near Vayland, SD, until August 1965, when the family moved to Miller. She attended elementary school in St. Lawrence, SD, graduating in 1968 from Miller High School. She graduated from the National College of Business, Rapid City, SD, with an associate's degree in computer programming in 1970.
Dianne and Jerry Olson were united in marriage on June 5, 1971, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Miller. They have made Clark, SD, their home since 1971. They were blessed with three children: David, Mike, and Natalie, and nine grandchildren.
Dianne worked at the library in Miller during high school. After college, she worked at First National Bank in Miller and First Computer in St. Paul, MN. She worked at Citizen's State Bank/Dacotah Bank in Clark from 1971 until May 2019, at which time she retired after 48 years.
Dianne was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Clark. She was a member of the Women's Ministry, served as secretary for the Sunday school program, taught Sunday school, and worked with the youth organization.
Dianne was selfless, joyful, caring and kind. She enjoyed spending time with family, outdoor time at their backyard pond, gardening and flowers, baking, making Christmas cookies and goodies, traveling (especially to the Black Hills), window shopping and searching for the best bargain, hosting and serving others, playing bridge, taking pride in her work, her appearance, and her family (especially her grandchildren which included the latest addition, little Cambree).
Dianne is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Jerry of Clark; children: David (Janice) Olson of Tulsa, OK; Mike (Fran) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD; Natalie (Jeremy) Clausen of Clark; grandchildren: Olivia Olson of Apple Valley, MN, Lauren Olson of Burnsville, MN; Evan Olson of Tulsa; Sammie, Anika, and Mason Olson of Sioux Falls; Avery, Maverick, and Cambree Clausen of Clark; sister: Mary Lou (Dave) Hepper of Big Stone City, SD; niece and nephews: Nicole (Brad) Plaga of Sioux Falls; Jeremy and Ryan Hepper of Sioux Falls; great nephew: Caleb Plaga of Sioux Falls; aunt: Janice Manning of Miller; mother-in-law: Fern Olson of Clark; brother-in-law's, sister-in-law's, and their children: Jim (Marilyn) Olson, Michelle and James; John (Helen) Olson, Lisa, Jenny, Kathy, and Elizabeth; Larry (Sylvia) Olson, Leah and Elliot; as well as many great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents: F. LaVerne and Mary Parmely; an infant brother: Gary Parmely; grandparents: Archie and Bertha (Daugherty) Parmely; James and Mabel (Rundle) Manning; uncles: Donald, Clarence, Leo, Harold, Arvy, Clayton, and Merlyn Parmely; John, James, Raymond, Martin, Leo, Bill, and Artie Manning; aunts: Florence Danielson, Theresa Peck, Ellen Bawdon, and Sally Brock; father-in-law: Wayne Olson; and several cousins.
