Diane Kaye Wheeler was born May 12, 1942 to Elmo and Mable (Schubloom) Wheeler along with a twin brother Dallas Wheeler. The twins were inseparable at birth and are still very connected today. Diane grew up in the Raymond area graduating from Raymond High School before attending Northern State University.  Many of Diane's happiest memories were her days of riding horses and rodeoing with her sisters and Jackie (Gleason) Schneider.  She was the state all-around cowgirl at the 1959 and 1960 state high school rodeos.  She was also the rodeo queen one of those years.  Diane also served on the South Dakota High School Rodeo Association Advisory Council representing the contestants of the association.

Diane married Arvon Taylor in May 1961. The couple made their home in the Conde area where they raised three daughters; Michelle, Tomelyn and Kristina. She worked on the farm and was a true farm wife working alongside her husband as an equal partner in the operation.  In later years, she worked at the Ramada Inn in Aberdeen and worked road construction as a flag person.  She always enjoyed meeting people, visiting and helping folks as she worked.  Diane was an avid bowler, excelling in many state tournaments. She also enjoyed golfing.  She was always active in her community serving with the Conde Civic Development, Conde School Board, a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary.  Diane was a giver to those in need, taking care of others before herself.  She was awarded as the 2011 Volunteer of the Year at the Golden Living Center in Groton.

Diane is survived by her three daughters Michelle (Tim) Mehlberg, Tomelyn (Craig Mutsch) Taylor, and Kristina (Brian Roloff) Taylor; grandchildren Jessica (Geoff) Bohn, Heidi Mehlberg, Carly (Garrett) Woodring, Jade Monroe, Dade Monroe, Shelby Ferstl and Kelsie Ferstl; brother Dallas (Lois) Wheeler; sister Cleo (Jerry) Thelen; brothers-in-law Joe Youngberg and Aaron (Karen) Taylor; sister-in-law Mary (Jim) Gederos and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Jeannette Imsland, Donna Hearnen, Joyce Sanderson, Mona Baldridge, Rosemary Sanderson and the Bruckner family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Arvon Taylor, brothers Gene, Jay, Tom and Dick and sisters Beverly and Karin.
