Diana M Holmes

Diana Holmes, age 69, Clark, formerly of Watertown, died peacefully in the Golden Living Center late Saturday night, April 12, 2014. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM the morning of the Mass at the Church. The Reverend John Short will celebrate the Mass. The staff of the Golden Living Center at Clark should consider themselves as honorary casketbearers with the active casketbearers being Jay, Joseph & Mikal Kirkeby and Tony, George and Lezlie Holmes. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. She was born Diana M. Holmes on May 8, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of William and Louise (Allen) Holmes. Diana attended the Gwynedd-Mercy Academy in Spring House, PA through the eighth grade and then the Our Lady of Confidence Day School for the intellectually disabled in Philadelphia from age 12-18. Diana was raised by her parents until her father's death and her mother's failing health and then she was moved to South Dakota in 1976 to be near family here. Diana then was enrolled in the ATCO program at Watertown where she worked in the assembly area and lived in a group home. In 2009 she became a resident of the Golden Living Center at Clark. In her free moments she enjoyed playing BINGO, listening to the news, watching Johnny Carson and thumbing through magazines. Diane knew her numbers and letters although putting them together was challenging to her, but that kept her busy. Second to none though was her love of collecting dimes in earlier years and then with inflation, she went to quarters! She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother William Holmes, a niece, Laura Holmes and a nephew John Kittelson. A brother-in-law, Paul Kittelson, also preceded her in death. Survivors include a sister, Louise Kittelson, brother, George (Vickie) Holmes all of Clark and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Maureen Holmes of Philadelphia, PA.
