Mr. Dennis R. Schmitt, age 47 of Clark died in a Watertown hospital on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2006 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident earlier in the morning. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 10AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark with Fr. Bill Hamak officiating. Music will be presented by Eileen Heilman as the organist and a niece, Aliza Anderson will sing "Amazing Grace". "Be Not Afraid" and "On Eagle's Wings". Burial will be private. He was born at Milbank, the son of Jerome and Rosemary (VanHout) Schmitt on November 18, 1958. The family moved to Clark when he was a young age and he attended school at Clark. For many years he was employed at John Morrell Co. in Sioux Falls and worked in the construction industry. On November 28, 1998 he was united in marriage to Amanda Dreher in the home of his sister Sharon at Micco, FL. They have lived in Clark. He has worked for Davisco in Lake Norden since January of 2004. Dennis also did construction work around the Clark area for many years. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church at Clark. Among hobbies he enjoyed were hunting and fishing. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his children and family and always was willing to lend a hand to anyone. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Julia, Rachael and David and their mother Amanda, parents, Rosemary and Jerome Schmitt all of Clark, siblings, Gerald 'Butch' Schmitt of Doland, Ardella Anderson and husband Ken of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sharon Buxton of Micco, FL, Peter Schmitt & Tony Schmitt both of Sioux Falls and Don Schmitt of Lead and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, a brother-in-law Barry Buxton and three uncles There will be no visitation.
