Dennis C Meier

Dennis C. Meier, age 79, Clark, formerly of the Doland area, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown on Monday, August 19, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at the funeral home from 10-11AM. Family and friends will then gather at the Richland Cemetery north of Carpenter, SD for an 11:30AM Graveside service with Pastor Donna Nickels officiating. Serving as casketbearers will be Culley, Robert, Eric, Garrett and Justin Meier. He was born Dennis Conrad Meier on January 11, 1934 at West Point, NE, the son of Tony and Christina (Koemmann) Meier. At a young age the family moved to Miller, SD for a brief time before settling near Doland where he attended country school. After attending school he worked on the family farm until he started farming on his own. He married Nona Marie Dudley on December 5, 1957 and to this union 3 sons were born. Dennis farmed, raised cattle, hauled hay and custom combined for nearly 50 years before retiring in 2003 due to health reasons. At that time he moved into Raymond until entering a care center at Redfield in 2005 and then in recent years living in the Golden Living Center at Clark. Preceding him in death were his parents, his middle son, James Meier, a sister, Joyce Zeglin, a niece Jean Marie Meier and his wife Nona (Dudley) Meier. Survivors include his sons, Steven (Denise) Meier of Florence and Mark (Tina) Meier of Watertown, 3 grandchildren, Culley, Casey and Alyssa, a great-grand-child, Easton, a brother, Irwin (Joan) Meier of Doland, two nephews Robert (Christine) and Eric Meier of Doland and a special friend, Pat Shannon of Clark.
