Delphine E. (Mrs. Charles) Taylor of Crandall, near Conde, SD, died in the Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen on Monday evening September 27, 2004. She had suffered an apparent stroke at her home on Sunday the 26th. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 1:30 PM in the United Methodist Church at Conde with the Reverend Grant Piehl officiating. Burial will follow in the Crandall Cemetery. There will be no visitation. She was born at Tillamoak, Oregon on March 6, 1921, the daughter of Virgil and Fay (Vibbert) Loomis. She attended school Brooks, OR. On December 28, 1939 she was united in marriage to Charles Taylor in Washington. The couple lived in Oregon for 2 years before moving to South Dakota in 1941. They have lived in the Crandall/Clark area since. While living at Crandall she assisted at the Post Office for many years. They also hosted out-of-state hunters for many years and she enjoyed making pheasant hats from the feathers. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Conde and the Conde Senior Citizens where she had also served as the manager of the building. Some of her hobbies included gardening, canning, raising flowers and collecting spoons. Second to none though was her love of crocheting which will be enjoyed by many family members for years to come. Grateful for having shared her life is her husband Charles of Conde, children, Delbert Taylor and wife Jan of Houston, TX, Ralph Taylor and wife Bonnie of Bristol, Sharon Sauer and husband Tom of Conde, Leeann Geurts and husband David of Minneapolis and Dawn Kendrick and friend Cliff Hartman of Bradley; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Taylor of Conde, son-in-law, Wilbur "Junior" Dunlavy of Conde; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Wayne Taylor, daughter, Charlene Dunlavy, 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Harry and LeRoy "Shorty" and 2 sisters, Bertha and Roberta.
