Delmar Foiles, age 100, Clark, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown early Sunday morning, June 26, 2016.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue on Saturday morning at 9AM at the church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with Pastor Mark Tracy officiating. Casketbearers will be Ralph, Roger and Russ Hurlbert, Dale Foiles, and Gene Bethke. The organist will be Wanda Bethke. A dinner will be served after the funeral at the church. Burial will follow the dinner at the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
Delmar Wayne Foiles was born August 12, 1915 in Logan Township in Clark County. Delmar was one of six children of Joseph Oscar and Jennie Susanna (Stenning) Foiles. Delmar attended Logan School graduating in 1935.
On October 10, 1936 he was united in marriage to Hazel May Logan at the home of Hazel's parents, Albert and Nellie Logan in Logan Township. Delmar and Hazel lived on a farm in Logan Township and raised three children, Beverly, Darrel and Arlys. Delmar and Hazel were married 78 years before Hazel's passing in 2015.
Delmar began farming with a team of horses and continued to farm for over 50 years. Throughout the years he planted many trees on his farm and worked hard to conserve the soil. He was on the board of directors of the Clark County District Soil Conservation Service for several years. He raised Black Angus cattle, corn, soybeans, wheat and oats.
Delmar was a longtime and faithful member of the Clark Methodist Church and the Logan Church in Logan Township. He served on several church committees and participated in the "farming bees." He loved to sing and sang in the church choir. He sang in the Logan Quartet with his brothers Raymond and John Foiles and his brother-in-law Byrl Logan. His sister Mabel (Foiles) Logan was the accompanist.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Darrel Wayne Foiles, his wife, Hazel May (Logan) Foiles and siblings Verna Foiles, Alice Yates, Mabel Logan and Raymond Foiles.
Grateful for having shared in his life are a daughter, Beverly Williams of Spokane, WA and her family, Terri Schneider and children, Dan (Clarissa) Schneider and son Landon; Kevin (Jenny) Schneider and children , Carter and Nora; Lori Williams (Scott Mannakee) of Everett, WA; a son preceded in death, Darrel (Rita) Foiles of Sioux Falls and daughters, Kristen (Kurt) Wolfswinkle and children Dreycen Foiles, Julia and Owen of Sibley, IA; Jennifer (Luke) Schulte and children, Landon, Maren and Preston of Sioux Falls and daughter, Arlys (Warren) Liebenow of Wayzata, MN and children J. Paul Liebenow of Wayzata, MN and Kathryn (Scott) Buccola of St. Paul, MN. Also surviving is a brother, John (Alvira) Foiles of Stevens Point, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in his memory.
