Deborah Jo Hass

Debby Hass, age 69, of Raymond, SD, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022, at the Avantara Care Center in Clark, SD. Debby fought ovarian and peritoneal cancers and was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Through it all, she never complained and always said, "It's in the Lord's hands."

Deborah Jo White, affectionately called, "Debby", was born on August 5 th , 1953, in Aberdeen, SD to Robert and Grace (Gross) White, the fourth of five children. Debby was baptized in the St. John's Catholic Church in Conde, SD and grew up in the areas of Conde, Raymond, and Clark, SD.

Debby loved horses and loved to ride her horse, Comanche, in the Uecker Shodeo, local trail rides, and in the Clark High School Rodeo. She attended school in Raymond and Clark and graduated from Clark High School in 1971. In 1973 Debby joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Rapid City, SD. She was later stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii and was honorably discharged while she was stationed at the Kelly Air Force Base in Texas in 1981. While in the U.S. Air Force, she was a Technical Sergeant and was involved in Intel Operations. Debby then became a member of the South Dakota Air Guard, stationed in Sioux Falls, SD. She was very proud of her military career which spanned over 22 years.

On May 16, 1975, from a previous marriage, Debby was blessed with the birth of her son, Kiialoni McMannen. On January 8, 1982, Debby married Francis Hass of Raymond at the Peace Lutheran Church in Clark, SD. Debby worked for a while at Dakota Style Chips for Campbell Farms, but she mainly helped on the family farm where her favorite job was operating the combine.

In Debby's spare time, she enjoyed reading. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. On August 17, 2021, Debby was blessed with the birth of a granddaughter, Aurora Grace, of which she was so proud.

Debby was a long-time member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymond, SD, and the Raymond American Legion, Post 209.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her siblings, Judy (Dennis) Lyke, Jeffrey (Cindy) White, Fred White and David White; and nephews, Shane and Cody.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Francis Hass; her son, Kiialoni McMannen and daughter-in-law, Ahisha McMannen of Brooklyn, NY; her granddaughter, Aurora Grace; her brother, Larry (Kathy) White of Raymond, SD; sisters-in-law, Cindy White of Ft.
