David Allen Wren

David Allen Wren, age 48, of Watertown, South Dakota, died Monday night, July 24, 2023 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with family at his side.

A visitation will be held at the Furness Funeral Home of Clark, SD on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 5:00PM - 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Clark, SD with refreshments to follow in the church basement. Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed on the Furness Funeral Home Facebook page at the time of service.

David Allen Wren was born July 21st, 1975 in Arlington, Texas to John and Janet (Audus) Wren. David attended Clark School District graduating in 1995. While in high school he enjoyed football and wrestling. He spent many hours with his grandfather Ethan Audus hunting at Uncle John's farm and tinkering around grandpa's shop. He was a very easy going, helpful, happy guy with a heart of gold. Teasing everyone around was a big favorite activity of his.

David enjoyed fishing, taking his children kayaking, hunting, golfing, and having a great time making memories with family and friends. His nephews will remember him by wrestling at all family gatherings. The nieces will remember his warm hugs and whisker kisses. All the children will remember the times they would gang up on him to tackle him, they were unsuccessful because he always had the upper hand. One would know if they hadn't been sat on by David, they weren't considered important in his life.

David has worked at various places throughout his life. Most recently to the day of his passing, he was working for Subsurface Inc.

David is survived by his mother, Janet of Clark, his children Chantell (Louis) of Aberdeen, Angel of Miller, MO, Jada and Dalton of Bennettville, SC, Hunter (Abigail), Ashlan and Kendra all of Watertown, his sisters Carla (Matt) Jordan of Tea and Janet (Dan) Gehrke of Clark, grandmother Darlene Audus of Clark, his mother-in-law Barbara (Delbert) McBrien of Clear Lake, sister-in-law Nicole (Byron) Olson of Clear Lake and brother-in-law Kyle (Shanna) of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by honorary grandchildren, Harmony of Watertown, Sawyer and Finn of Aberdeen, and many, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shawna Wren, father John Wren, great grandparents Myrna and Bert Farness, grandparents Jerry and Rosa Wren, and Ethan Audus, uncle AJ Wren, aunt Debra Worthy, cousins, nephew Israel Jordan, great niece Aurora Guffin, father-in-law Ronald McBrien, and grandparents, William and Arlene McBrien, Paul and Dorothy Schudar.
