David Understock

David Understock, age 67, of Doland, SD, died Sunday morning, March 7, 2021 at a Sioux Falls hospital surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, March 11, 2021, at 2:30 PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel in Clark with visitation being from 1:30-2:30. Reverend Mark Tracy will officiate.  Casket bearers will be  Gary Tschetter, Justin Haider, Matt Nygaard, Rod Remily, Dan Wilson and Tim Wolberg.  Honorary bearers will be Shane Fortin, Laird Larson, Harlan Erickson, Kevin Dettler, Lon Wurz, Randi Dix and Joe Evenson. There will be a gathering with a fish fry beginning around 5 PM at the Bottoms Up back room in Doland. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT FURNESS FUNERAL HOME.

He was born November 20, 1953 to Dean and Doris (Larson) Understock.  He attended Clark, Logan and Doland Schools.  Dave was a hard worker growing up on the farm and went on to work in the oil fields, on power lines across the country and custom harvesting, with his own family harvesting business.

Dave loved watching western movies, the Price is Right and the Game Show Network, fishing; especially ice fishing, gardening, canning and making salsa, and working with his brother Duane on the family farm.  He also loved his horses and raised quarter horses for many years.

Dave married Tammy Tschetter on July 9, 1977.  They were blessed with three children:  Ryan Allen Understock, Jennifer Lucille (Lance) Dunlap and Eric David Understock.

Honored for sharing his life are his children, his grandchildren Rylan and Ayden Understock, Henry and Wyatt Dunlap, his brothers Duane, Danny (Laurie), and Dally Understock, his sister Diane Lohr, his dear girlfriend Kelley Dennison, and his many cousins and friends.  His last regret was not having enough time to say goodbye to all of his friends and family.

Dave was preceded in death by his sister Donna Jean, his parents Dean and Doris, and his beloved companion Maggie May.
