David Neil Reff

David Neil Reff, son of Neil and JoAnn (Knutson) Reff was born on November 13, 1958 in Jamestown, ND. David grew up in Wessington Springs, SD where he attended grade school and high school graduating in 1976. He had many jobs including Speldridge Trucking in the oil fields at Tioga, ND; Blumhart and Hall Motors in Ellendale, ND; Blue and Reff Insurance in Huron, SD; Armour Packing Plant in Huron, SD; Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina, KS; Combined Insurance in Kansas; and Physicians Mutual Insurance in South Dakota. David resided 8 miles south of Clark, SD.

David joined the National Guard in 1976, serving with the 153rd Engineering Battalion and later was a member of the Active Army Reserves. He graduated from OCS in 1982 and served for 12 years,retiring as a First Lieutenant.

He was married to Janelle Diemert in 1976, from which union 3 children were born: son Anthony and twin daughters Apryl and Andrea. They were later divorced and while attending Northern State University in Aberdeen, he met and married Julie Mitchell in 1990 in Brentford, SD. Unto this marriage, two children were born, son Dustin and daughter Amanda.

David was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer and enjoyed anything outdoors, especially helping on the farm. As a child, he was always bringing home wild turkeys, chickens, salamanders, crawdads, and other critters that people gave him or that he would catch. He even had a horse tied up in the back yard.

David developed a love for motorcycles at an early age and made many motorcycle trips with his kids and friends. He passed that joy down to his children. His latest and favorite cycle is his Harley Davidson Fat Boy. He called this his favorite toy.

David was preceded in death by his mother JoAnn Reff; uncle Dennis Reff; aunt and uncle Marje and Alan Knutson; aunt Kaycee Beauchemin; aunt and uncle Elba and Dale Knutson; and granddaughter Angel Loll.

Grateful for sharing his earthly life and his love are his father Neil; wife Julie; children Anthony (Tina) Reff of Breckinridge, MN; Apryl (Charles) Loll of Wahpeton, ND; Andrea (Jesse) South of Las Vegas, NV; Dustin Reff and Amanda Reff of Clark, SD; grandchildren Tristan and Faith Reff and Kyera Loll; siblings Sharyl (Doug) Burmeister of Mitchell, SD; Gary (Deb) Reff of Huron, SD; Ron Reff of Aberdeen, SD; aunts and uncles Carol and Rodney Sondreal of Los Angeles, CA; Jan and John Susich of Los Angeles, CA; Tom and Sally Reff of Pelican Rapids, MN; cousins Robert and Rita Knutson, Wes and Sheila Knutson, Charles and Alena Knutson, Shannon Susich, John Susich, Jr., Brian and Sherri Susich, Ken and Deb Susich, and Julie and Rod Banker.
