Darlene Kay (Mrs. Lester) Solberg, age 65 of Clark, died at her home on Tuesday morning, March 14, 2006 after an illness due to cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 2PM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with The Reverend's Dr. Paul Larson and Roger Semmler officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Music will be presented by Dorothy Fuller as the organist with Marvine Obermeier and Wendy Christman singing "On Eagle's Wings". The congregation will sing "Here I Am Lord" and "You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore". Honorary casketbearers are her grandchildren, sisters and all friends. Active casketbearers are Don Bailey, Dick, Allen and Jeff Wells, Odean Solberg and Dale Swanson. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after noon at the Church on Monday. She was born at Clark on November 28, 1940, the daughter of Forrest E. 'Frosty' and LaVern (Bailey) Wells. She attended Thorp High School for a year and then Clark High School graduating in 1958. Following her schooling, she worked at the ASCS office. On October 29, 1961 she was united in marriage to Lester C. 'Les' Solberg at Crocker. The couple lived in Colorado where she worked for Cahner's Publishing Co. in Englewood for 3' years. After leaving Colorado, they moved to New Brighton, MN and lived there for 7 years. They then moved to North Dakota where she worked at LaBelle's in Fargo doing clerical work. The family then moved back to South Dakota where they, along with another couple, owned and operated the DaGo Inn in Warner for 8 years. After selling that business in 1984, they moved to Clark where she again worked at the ASCS office for 10 years prior to retiring. Darlene was baptized, confirmed and married in the Crocker Lutheran Church. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark where she was an active member of the funeral and wedding committee and also assisted with the alter guild. While living in Warner she served on the ALCW board and also was a member of the Warner Birthday Club. She was a volunteer parent during her daughter's school years. She was also a member of the Federated Women's Club and had taught Sunday School for many years. Some of her hobbies included bowling, tending to flowers, dancing and baking. She enjoyed trips to the family farm, but second to none, Darlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband Lester C. 'Les' Solberg of Clark, three daughters, Kimberly Kay Bellum and husband Mark of Watertown, Jodene Leslie Young and husband Wade of Warner and Pamela Joy Lane and husband Mark of Aberdeen; 7 Grandchildren, Casey & Corey Janisch, Chelsea, Jesse and Joel Young and Carter and Gavin Lane, and her siblings Dick Wells and wife Heather of Conde, Cheryl Swanson and husband Don of Clark, Allen Wells and wife Sandy of Watertown, Connie Rossow of Clark and Shirley Wells of Groton. Her mother-in-law, Hazel Solberg of Clark also survives. She also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents LaVern Wells in 2002 and Forrest 'Frosty' Wells in 2003 and her father-in-law, Martin Solberg in 1982 Email condolences to www.furnessfuneralhome.com
