Darlene E. Peterson

Darlene E. "Dolly" Peterson, age 59 of Clark died on Thursday evening, June 8, 2006 in the Beverly Healthcare Center at Clark due to complications from cancer. Public visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2006 from 1-3PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark. A private service will be held later that day with burial following in the Rosehill Cemetery at Clark. She was born on January 6, 1947 at Clark, the daughter of Clarence Merrill and Marie Caroline (Brannan) Peterson. She grew to adulthood in Clark attending Clark Schools graduating in 1965. Following her schooling she attended cosmetology training and worked as a hairdresser for some 15 years. Some of the places of employment were the Granite Beauty Salon in Watertown and Charm Salon in Brookings. She also was a certified nurses aide working at the Parkview Care Center in Bryant and at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Clark. While working at the Parkview Care Center she was the nominee for the Millie Award, given by the South Dakota Health Care Association for outstanding service in a long term care facility. For a period of four years she was employed at the Huron Area Center for Independence, a place she thoroughly enjoyed working at. Dolly also worked for a period of 18 years as a hotel front desk clerk, working at the Plateau/Holiday Inn, Travelers Inn and Comfort Inn all in Watertown. In December of 2000 she returned to live at Clark and moved to Watertown last year to be closer to medical attention. She enjoyed country music and making crafts, exploring her artistic abilities. Among survivors are a step-father, Ralph Peters of Clark and a sister-in-law Judy Smith and husband Keith of Brookings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother Darrell in 1968 and a sister Geraldine Koan in 2002. Services are announced by the Furness Funeral Home at Clark.
