Cynthia Anderson passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, MN at the age of 70. Cynthia Anne Anderson, the daughter of Gardena and Walter Anderson, was born October 27, 1950 in Watertown, South Dakota. Cynthia faced many challenges in life right from the beginning.
MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON Saturday, October 23, at 10:30 AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark. The Reverend Mark Tracy will officiate. Private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
She was born prematurely and was affected with cerebral palsy. At an early age, she resided at a facility for disabled children in Sioux Falls, then became a resident of the Redfield State Hospital where she resided for eleven years. In 1977, she moved to Sioux Falls to the United Cerebral Palsy Center where she lived for five years. In 1981 she moved to the Courage Center in Golden Valley, Courage Center is a residence for physically disabled persons and helped Cynthia learn to live a more independent life. One of her major goals was to obtain her GED. She was able to achieve that goal, and in 1982 she was awarded her GED.
From the Courage Center, she moved to her own apartment in Minneapolis where she lived for over 20 years, even tending her own garden. In 2008 she moved into Sterling Estates in New Brighton, MN where she resided until the time of her death.
Cynthia faced much adversity in her life but she was a fighter to the core. She liked to do fabric painting, puzzles, and listen to audiobooks. She loved her family and in recent years she really enjoyed watching videos of her three great-nephews, Bryce, Theo, and Mason.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gardena Anderson of Clark.
Survivors include her three sisters, Laura Conzet of Little Canada, MN; Judy Rider of Little Canada, MN; and Mary Jo (Gary) Pullman of Wrangell, AK; three nieces, two nephews, and three great-nephews.
