Cody A Verdon

Cody Alan Verdon, age 21, Willow Lake, died in the Sanford USD Medical Center at Sioux Falls on Friday morning; August 16, 2013 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Willow Lake the preceding Friday. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-8PM at the Grace Lutheran Church at Willow Lake and will continue on Tuesday one hour preceding services in the Willow Lake School Gym. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11AM in the Willow Lake School Gym with The Reverend Keith Garness officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. The pianist will be Ann Larson. Casketbearers will be Chase Bratland, David Christian, Zach Hovde, Lane Severson, Cole Schuelke, Drew Yanish, Phil Warkenthien & Kurt Litzau. Cody was born on October 6, 1991. He was schooled at Willow Lake graduating with the Class of 2010. Following high school he attended WyoTech Daytona, Florida, specializing in their motorcycle technology program. He later returned to the Willow Lake community and began working for Verdon Roofing and Construction. He was baptized at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer at Watertown and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Willow Lake. Cody was truly a motorcycle person, tinkering on his bike and others all the time. He loved fixing and restoring bikes and currently was also working on a 1968 Chevy pick-up. As you most know, his current motorcycle was painted orange and black, his favorite colors, getting rid of the chrome! He will long be remembered for his love of hanging out with friends, being a technology type junkie, from cell phone, to computer to ipod/ipad, many at the same time. His art of fitness training and protein foods will also be long remembered as will his infectious smile. He thoroughly loved all from his friends to his family, and he was loved by all that came into contact with him. He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Brenda (Whirledge) Verdon, sister, Samantha (Kelly) Dockter, nieces, Teresa, Aimee and Mikyla, maternal grandparents, Roger and Jerone Whirledge all of Willow Lake, his paternal grandmother, Betty Colberg of Cosmos, MN and paternal grandfather, Gerald (Norma) Verdon of Forest Lake, MN, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
