Clifford Schieckoff

Clifford Schieckoff, age 86, of Clark, formerly of Huron and Onida, died at Avantara Clark on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Huron, SD at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to services. Reverend Kevin Koester will officiate. The Church service will livestreamed from the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at https://www.mtcalvaryhuron.org/livestream .  Burial with full military honors will follow at the Onida Cemetery, Onida, SD.

Clifford Siegfried Schieckoff was born in Onida, SD on March 13, 1935 to parents Marie (Schneider) and Siegfried Schieckoff. He grew up on the family farm and attended the Buffalo Country School east of Onida through the 8 ^th grade.  Clifford then stayed home to help on the farm, a job he loved.

On September 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Marlys Berg at the Onida Lutheran Church of Onida. They lived in Aberdeen for a short while before moving back to the family farm east of Onida. While in Onida, they were members of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In 1962, Clifford joined the US Army where he honorably served for two years. Following his service, he returned to the farm until retiring from farming in 1977.

In 1977, the family moved to Huron where they became members of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Clifford began working for Terex Telelect on June 6, 1977 and worked there until retiring on September 15, 1998.

In his free time, Clifford loved hunting, working on small engines., riding motorcycle and camping with the Huron Rovers Camping Club.  After his retirement, he could be seen riding his new red moped which he put on over 2000 miles.

Grateful for sharing his life are his children, Clinton Schieckoff of Henry and Vonda Hill of Huron; four grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Preceding Clifford in death were his parents, Marie and Siegfried; his wife, Marilyn; his sisters, Dorothy, Helen and Eva; and his infant brother, Herbie.
