Clarine Lamb, 87, of Willow Lake passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the home of her son, Evan Lamb, near Thomas, SD. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Monday, October 28th at the Grace Lutheran Church in Willow Lake. The Reverend Keith Garness will officiate. Burial will follow at the Good Hope Cemetery in rural Willow Lake. The organist will be Dorothy Fuller. Special music will be provided by the Lamb grandchildren. Honorary casketbearers will be her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Active casketbearers will be Eric, Jeff, Michael, and Ben Lamb, Alex Jones, Zach Blauer, Blake Hojer and Drew Edleman. Arrangements will be provided by Furness Funeral Home in Clark, SD. Visitation is Sunday, October 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Furness Funeral Chapel in Clark with prayer and remembrance service at 7 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Monday. Clarine Alice Hanson was born on March 11, 1926 to Arthur and Camilla (Huke) Hanson. She was born in her parents' farm house in Foxton Township, Clark County, South Dakota. Clarine was the oldest of three children. She had two brothers, Norris and Melvin Hanson. Clarine grew up on her parents' farm and attended grade school in the one room school N.E. Foxton No. 18 and graduated from Henry High School in 1944. After graduation, Clarine worked at the Bartron Hospital and then the Watertown Air Base as a secretary for the base engineer captain until the base closed in 1946. After the war, she attended Eastern State Normal School in Madison, SD and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught for three years at the N.E. Foxton No. 18 country school and later taught a year at the Naples school. Clarine worked with her husband in their farming operation, and also worked 11 years at the potato processing plant in Clark, SD Clarine was an active member of Good Hope Lutheran Church where she served as treasurer of the ELCW for many years. She was also a member of the Busy Bee Extension Club and was a leader for the Willing Workers 4-H Club for over 10 years. Clarine was united in marriage to Ralph Burton Lamb in Naples, South Dakota, on June 18th, 1950. They made their home on section 3 of Lake Township, Clark County after their marriage. Ralph and Clarine had six children: Curtis, Marlin, Cora Mae, Janice, Evan, and Charlene. She believed in the importance of a good education, and greatly encouraged and helped her children scholastically. She also supported and encouraged her children and grandchildren's church, 4-H, school athletic and music activities. Clarine enjoyed following the customs and traditions of her Norwegian heritage. Many holiday meals featuring lutefisk, lefse, fruit soup, and krumkaka were shared with her family. She was also well known for her delicious potato salad. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Curtis Lamb, Akron, Ohio, Cora Mae (Bill) Jones, Wilmot, Janice (Jim) Bakke, Watertown, and Evan Lamb, Hayti; her grandchildren: Eric, Jeff, and Michael Lamb, Alex and Jessica Jones, Janelle Bakke, Laren (Zack Blauer) and Ben Lamb, Jennifer (Blake) Hojer, and Kayla (Drew) Edleman, and five Great-grandchildren: Jaden and Tyson Lamb, Bradyn Lamb, Violet Lamb, and Jace Hojer. She also leaves behind two sister-in-laws, Phyllis Hanson, Watertown and Marcene Hanson, Vienna. Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph; her parents, Arthur and Camilla Hanson; one son Dr. Marlin Lamb; one daughter, Charlene Warkenthien; one daughter-in-law, Daneen Lamb; one son-in-law, Loren Warkenthein; two grandchildren, Chad and Joel Lamb; and two brothers, Norris and Melvin Hanson.
