Clarice Duenwald

Clarice Faye Duenwald, age 64, died surrounded by family, on December 24 ^th , 2022 at Avantara Clark nursing home.  She was born June 4 ^th , 1958 in Bowdle SD to Otto and Florence (Schuh) Bollinger.

Burial will be on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:00AM at the St. Boniface Cemetery of Clark. Family will be gathering for a lunch at the Duenwald Transportation Shop after for a lunch and all are welcome. The burial was livestreamed and may be viewed on the Furness Funeral Home Facebook page.

Clarice was raised in Bowdle, SD and graduated from Bowdle high school, class of 1976. During her senior year she worked at Mertz floral in Bowdle and this is where she learned how to make and decorate the many wedding and birthday cakes she has done over the years. She was also a 4-year letter winner in basketball, track, and cheerleading. Her basketball team won the 1 ^st Yellowstone trail conference tourney the year the girls YTC was established in 1975. She was Editor of her high school yearbook which ended up winning a state award her senior year. Following graduation, she was untied in marriage to Daniel Duenwald on August 20 ^th , 1976 at St Anthony's Church in Hoven, SD. They farmed north of Hoven with Dan's dad and brother until 1985. Then, they moved to Conde SD where she started working at North Central Transportation as their bookkeeper until 1988. In 1987, Clarice became an EMT and joined the volunteer Ambulance service in Conde until 1997. Clarice also began her 20-year career as a business manager for Conde School District in 1988, along with being the director of the school play, youth wrestling coach, and a substitute school bus driver. In 1997, Clarice started as business manager for the Clark School District and retired in 2008 to complete her 20 years as business manager. One of her greatest joys was not missing any of her kids' school events and also having her signature on all of their high school diplomas. Clarice's hobbies included cake decorating, gardening, cooking German food, co-ed volleyball and softball, sewing, and collecting angels; just to name a few. While living in Conde, Clarice also enjoyed working part time at the Groton Dairy Queen for many years. She was a member of the altar society in both Conde and Clark. After retirement, Clarice enjoyed time with her grandchildren and being on social media to keep up with her friends. She was always in charge of writing the family Christmas letter until she was no longer able to do so. She enjoyed numerous vacations with family and friends to Alaska, Jamaica, Arizona, California, Mexico, Florida, etc. In 2015, Clarice entered the Avantara Clark nursing home where she resided until her death and was taken care of and loved so very well by the entire staff. Clarice's middle name Faye is also carried on thru her daughter Wendy and granddaughters, Payten, Gabby and Mackenzie.

Clarice is preceded in death by her parents Otto Bollinger and Florence Bollinger Gramm, step father Erwin Gramm, brother Allan Bollinger.

Clarice is survived by her husband Dan Duenwald, her children Wendy (Nick) Jackson, Fargo, ND, Chad (Jennifer) Duenwald Clark, SD, Kevin (Erin) Duenwald, Webster, SD, Melody (Chris) Bokinskie, Clark, SD, Grandchildren Regan Jastram, Caden Jastram, Kenya Duroe, Kiara Bokinskie, Aaliyah Jackson, Jaelynn Jackson, Payten Bokinskie, Embry Duenwald, Jordan Jackson, Gabby Duenwald, Anakalia Bokinskie, Dylan Duenwald, Kase Duenwald, Mila Bokinskie, Mackenzie Duenwald, Sister Sharlene (Reese) Hoffman, Bowdle, SD, Brothers, Jim(Beth) Bollinger, Turlock, CA, Mark Bollinger, Blackhawk, SD and sister-in-law Babs Bowne of Mitchell, SD.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 5-7 pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark with a Wake at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2:30 at the church with Celebrant Reverend Daniel Smith.
