Clara Heer

Clara Heer, age 101, Clark, formerly of the Doland area, died on Sunday morning, February 3, 2019 at the Wookey Assisted Living Center at Clark where she has resided the past 5 years.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the St. Michael's Catholic Church at Clark with The Reverend Daniel Smith officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to the Mass.  Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Clark in the spring.

Clara was born on November 9, 1917 on the family farm SE of Doland to Albinus "Ollie" and Mary Sophia (Wehland) Heer.  Clara attended the Heer School SE of Doland.  She always worked on the family farm alongside other family members and most recently with her brother, Francis.  Clara was proud of the fact that she was still hauling bales at over age 95! She and a side-kick, Joyce Seaver, put several miles on Joyce's car between Raymond and Clark.  In her pastimes at the Wookey Center, where she had resided since 2014, she played countless games of Dominos nightly, pinochle, and was an accomplished marble player, still beating everyone on her 100 ^th birthday! Another favorite pastime of hers was embroidering hundred of flour sack towels for drying dishes. She had bragging rights at pinochle when she was 100, playing the local Methodist Minister Mark Tracy in a game, she whooped him with a double run, best hand you can have!

Survivors include her brother Francis of Doland and a sister, Teresa Bau of Frankfort and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings Cecelia Terpstra, John Heer, Mary Lucy Stahl, Alice Heer, Agnes Gereaux, Anna Mary Heer and 2 sisters in infancy, Anastasia and Lucy.
