Roop, 59, of Mitchell and formerly of Clark, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at her home in Mitchell due to a house fire. Visitation will be on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Arne-Weerts Funeral Home in Clark. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:30 am from the Clark Center Church with Rev. Robin Schaunaman officiating. Jean Obermeier will be pianist and Eric Weerts will be the soloist. Burial will follow at the Clark Center Cemetery. Cheryl was born in Redfield on October 19, 1952 to Kenneth Nordhus and Patricia Bailey. She graduated from Clark High School in 1970. Cheryl attended chef school in Mitchell for a year. She married Brad Roop in Watertown. Cheryl was a homemaker and she cleaned houses in Mitchell for other people. She also worked at the Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell. Cheryl enjoyed gardening and was a loving, caring wife and mother who was always helpful. Cheryl is survived by her husband Brad of Mitchell; father, Kenneth (Harriet) Nordhus of Clark; daughters, Stephanie Bowers of Montana; Mariah Roop of Mitchell; son, Stephen Butterfield; brother, Stephen of Minnetonka, MN; four grandchildren and several half brothers and half sisters. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother Patricia and a brother Timothy.
