Cheryl Hallberg Anderson, age 82, Clark, the widow of Kenneth Anderson, Sr., died in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Wednesday morning, July 13, 2011. In recent years she had lived in an apartment in Clark and has been living in the Roetell Senior Assisted Living Center in Clark until entering the care center the past few days. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Rev. Robin Schaunaman officiating. Burial will be private in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Music will be presented by Dorothy Fuller as organist and a granddaughter, Aliza Anderson singing, "Never Alone". The congregation will sing "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden". The casketbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses. Honorary casketbearers will be the Staff of the Dialysis Unit at Prairie Lakes Hospital, Staff of Roetell Senior Assisted Living Center and the Happy Bunch Club. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5PM-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 9:30AM at the Church on Saturday morning. She was born on August 22, 1928 in Darlington Township, south of Clark, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Day) Hallberg. She was confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Cheryl attended the S.W. Merton School for eight years then graduated from Clark High School in 1946. Following her high school education, she then attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen later transferring to Huron College and finished her teaching degree. She taught rural Clark County schools for 20 years. On June 19, 1948 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Anderson. Following their marriage she continued teaching school then later they moved to Watertown where she worked at Davey's Furniture. She returned to teaching school for a brief time until they moved to a farm in Darlington Township where they lived for 15 years. Following their retirement from farming, the couple moved into Clark and purchased the A & E Motel on the east side of Clark and operated it for 15 years. She also helped her husband as a Clark County Police Dispatcher for several years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. Cheryl was a member of the Happy Bunch Club and also did volunteer work at the Clark Care Center. Mr. Anderson died on February 7, 1998. Some of her fondest moments were spent being with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Another pastime of hers was reading. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Ken Jr. (Ardella) Anderson of Lincoln, NE, Janet (Don) Roehrich of Watertown, 6 grandchildren, Angela (Cory) Richmond, Jeremy Anderson & Sami Landen, Abby Anderson & Aaron Farber, Aliza Anderson, Jennifer (Dustin) Flatten and Jason (Valerie) Roehrich, great-grandchildren, Cadynce, Chason, Ryder, Calvin, Max, Wilkes, Brynn and a baby girl soon to be born! She also leaves sisters, Frances Smith of Clark and Norma Larson Bailey of Moline, Il. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Kenneth, Sr. and brothers-in-law, Wilmer Smith, Ole Larson and Jack Bailey.
