Mr. Cecil Madsen, age 74 of Sioux Falls died on Thursday, March 2, 2006 in the Royal C. Johnson VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls after a long illness. He was the son of the late Edna Bobzien (Madsen) Temple of Clark. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 1PM in the Peace Lutheran Church (WELS) at Clark with the Reverend Mark Guthmiller officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Barb Wegman will be the organist with the congregation singing "Amazing Grace" & "Beautiful Savior". Casketbearers will be LeRoy, Mike and Al Madsen, Evonne Hawe, Brenda Haviland and David Heim. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6-8PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 11AM at the Church in Clark on Monday. He was born at Clark, SD on May 21, 1931, the son of Lars Alfred Madsen ' an immigrant from Denmark and Edna Bobzien. He attended school at Clark graduating in the class of 1949. Following his graduation, he was inducted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. During his 8 years in the military he served in Germany for two of those years. He was also a member of the 147th Field Artillery stationed in Sioux Falls for 2 years. On April 17, 1955 he was united in marriage to Fay Stine at Watertown. To this union five children were born. He has lived in Sioux Falls for over 40 years where he has worked for The Paper Company as a warehouse supervisor. He retired a few years ago. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran (WELS) Church in Sioux Falls. In earlier years he enjoyed fishing and has for many years, been very active in playing pool, even attending national tournaments in Las Vegas on several occasions. Cecil also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, LeRoy Madsen and wife Patsy of Pierre, Mike Madsen and wife Rosie of Omaha, NE, Evonne Hawe of Butte, MT, Alfred Lars 'Al' Madsen and wife Jill of Sioux Falls and Brenda Haviland of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Alice Heim of Clark. Preceding him in death was his father, Lars Madsen, mother, Edna Temple and a sister, Darlene Jongbloed Services are announced by the Furness Funeral Home of Clark where you can email a condolence at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
