CeCelia Brownell, age 65, Henry, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown on Tuesday morning, June 8, 2010 after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10AM in the St. Henry Catholic Church at Henry with The Reverend David Axtmann officiating. Dorothy Fuller will be the organist. The casketbearers will be Pat Gutsick, Ralph Smith, Kyle and Chad Keyes, Dick O'Neill and Joe Sharp. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7PM at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Henry.
CeCelia was born on February 13, 1945 at Coaldale, PA, the daughter of Lee and Elizabeth (Conahan) Brownell. The family returned to the Henry community where she attended grade school and then graduated from Henry High School in 1963. She then attended the Watertown Business School in Watertown, SD.
Following her school she moved to the Minneapolis, MN area and began employment with the Carley Foundry near Minneapolis. She continued her work for them as office manager retiring after some 40 years. In 2006 CeCelia moved back home to Henry where she has lived since.
Some of her hobbies included collecting antiques and being an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Viking, in fact, holding season tickets to the Vikings for many years. She loved her dogs, baking and cooking and traveling with a longtime friend Gayla Keyes. CeCelia will long be remembered for her love of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and being an avid fan of Coca-Cola!
Preceding her in death were her parents and an aunt CeCelia Gutsick.
Grateful for having shared in her life is a brother, Eugene (Julie) Brownell of Aberdeen, 2 nephews, Brian and Bradley Brownell both of Oakes, ND, and aunt, Gail (Don) Zweig, uncle, LaVerne (Mae) Brownell all of Watertown and an uncle Joseph Gutsick of Millville, NJ. Also surviving her are several cousins and a host of friends.
