Carol Seim

Carol Seim, age 93, of Clark, formerly of Watertown, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Avantara of Clark, SD.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Furness Funeral Home of Clark, SD.

Carol G. Berg was born April 9, 1930 in LaBolt, SD to parents Egner and Clara (Swanson) Berg. She grew up there and attended LaBolt Grade School through eighth grade and then Strandburg High School, graduating in 1948. She enrolled at Northern State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools including Madison No. 3 and 5 and Vernon No. 3.

On June 16, 1950, Carol was united in marriage to Gordon Seim. She was blessed to have this man by her side for 74 years, 70 years of which she called him her husband. The couple lived in LaBolt until 1955 and then headed west to Southern California living in Huntington Park until 1973 and then the City of Orange. During these years, she was a wonderful stay-at-home wife and mother and occasionally assumed the role of teacher's aide in Special Education classrooms. In 1999, the couple made their way back to SD, living in Watertown and Clark.

Carol was very active in the churches she attended in the various communities that she lived in over the years. They were LaBolt Covenant Church, Grace Church in Huntington Park, Orange Covenant, and Wesleyan Church in Watertown. Her example as a faithful follower of Christ was most evident in her devotion to her family, her service to others, her love for God's word, and her prayers for her children. She was a godly wife and blessed mother in every sense of the word.

Carol is survived by her children, LuAnn (Gary) Jacobsen of Clark, Brian (Laura) Seim of Hazel, Alan (Dawn) Seim of Watertown, and Ronald (Kimberly) Seim of Bentonville, Arkansas, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Egner and Clara Berg, her husband, Gordon Seim, her brothers, Leslie, Gordon, and Loren Berg, her sister, Lucille Nordquist and two grandchildren.
