Carol (Mrs. Raymond) Foiles, age 75, of Yankton, SD formerly of the Clark/Raymond communities died on Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 2008 in a Yankton care center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with the Rev. Warren Rhodes officiating. Music will be provided by Wanda Bethke - organist, the United Methodist Church Choir - singingand a previously recorded cd featuring Raymond & Carol Foiles as a duet and then a quartet with Bryl Logan, Raymond Foiles, Marilyn Flora and Carol Foiles. All of her grandchildren will be casketbearers. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery at Clark.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and after 9AM at the Church on Monday morning.

Carol Faye was born on a ranch north of Raymond on May 23, 1933, the daughter of Everett and Edith (Logeman) Pierce. The family moved into Clark in 1936 where she attended school, graduating from Clark High School in 1951. She then attended and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1955 with a bachelors degree in music education. She taught vocal music and English at Parkston High School until her marriage.

On September 23, 1956 she was united in marriage to Raymond Foiles in the United Methodist Church at Clark. Following their marriage they farmed south of Raymond until moving into Clark in 1984, at which time they retired from farming. They made their home in Clark until moving to Yankton in June of 2006, to be closer to their daughters.

She was an active, faithful member of the United Methodist Church having taught Sunday School, Bible School, had served on various Church committees and directed the choir for nearly 40 years. Carol was also active in United Methodist Women, both on a local and district level, and was a member of the Esther Circle. In the community she was a member of the Merry-Go-Round Extension Club and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Some of her fondest times were spent singing, reading, researching family histories and crafts.

Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband of over 52 years, Raymond of Yankton, daughters, Carmen (Steve) Mach of Yankton and Amy (Tom) Barr of Sioux Falls, 5 grandchildren, Jennie (John) Warden, Dan (Kate) Mach, Riley Hosman, Logan and Brady Barr, 2 step-grandchildren, Miranda and Mitchell Barr, a great-granddaughter, Ella Warden and a sister, Melba (Rev. Bob) Brown of Cameron, MO. She also leaves a son-in-law, Dean Hosman of Brandon, SD.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter, Laura Hosman, aniece Barbara Brown, a sister, Evelyn Murphy and a brother, Glenn Pierce.
