Carla Ohman, age 80, Watertown, died in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown on Wednesday evening, February 24, 2016. She was the widow of George Ohman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 2PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with Pastor Scott Dempster officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the chapel. Casketbearers will be Chuck, Chad and Lisa Ohman and Ron Paulson. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Watertown.
She was born Carla Splinter on April 16, 1935 at Watertown, the daughter of William and Bertha (Fish) Splinter. A Carla story "I was born and given the middle name of Ann, but I never liked it, so I used Carla Jo, never changed it officially!" Carla attended school in Watertown.
On January 21, 1959 she was united in marriage to Nels George Ohman. The couple lived and farmed in Woodland Township until retiring and moving to Watertown in 1973. Carla was a stay at home mom raising the two boys. George died on April 8, 2014.
Some of the things that people will remember most about Carla was her love of visiting, with a cup of coffee, singing – in fact, being a part of a band years ago, her enjoyment of dogs, buying houses and fixing them up, love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to rummage sales and spending money on others. Second to none though was her specialty of cooking – "Best cook ever" as some would say – goulash, homemade buns, meatloaf in French bread and gravy were some of the favorites.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and a sister, Bobbie (Jiles) Kranz.
Survivors include her sons, Kim (Holly) Ohman and Greg (Rhonda) Ohman all of Watertown, grandchildren, Chad, Cody, Chuck and Lisa and several great-grandchildren.
