Calvin Dale Schoepp, named after President Calvin Coolidge, was born July 4, 1927 to parents Charles and Catherine "Nellie" (Redmond) Schoepp in Henry, SD. He attended Henry School through 8th grade. His passion from a young age was farming. He operated a dairy farm for several years and was busy helping with farmwork from his teen years to his late 80s. He was a farmer through and through with a big heart and helping hands.
Calvin married Lois Zugschwerdt on October 9, 1947 at the Catholic rectory of St. Henry's Church. The couple moved to the farm in Elrod Township, Clark County, southwest of Henry following their marriage and lived and farmed there for many years. Lois died in 2012. Calvin retired from farming and moved into Stoneybrook Suites in December 2017.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time, watching football, and was an avid fan of NASCAR. Above all else, he cherished his time with family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Lois, a grandson, Corey Schoepp, great granddaughters June Baldwin and Kiona York, and brothers Donald (Margarite) and Robert Keith Schoepp.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Diane York, Kevin (Linda) Schoepp all of Watertown, Doug (Stephanie Raasch) Schoepp of Henry, Karen (Tom) Miller of Iroquis, and Gary (Tondi) Schoepp of Chanhassen, MN; 11 grandchildren, Chad, Jeff, Stacey, Tracy, Dylan, Harlee, Braeden, Casey, Lindsey, Blake and Greg; and 8 great grandchildren, Grayson, Katelyn, Aria, Spencer, Allison, McKayla, Justin and Caleb. He also leaves behind brother Herbert Schoepp and sister-in-law Dorothy Schoepp.
