Mrs. Billie G. Steffen, age 80, the widow of Oliver "Ollie" Steffen died on Saturday evening in the Beverly Healthcare Center at Clark where she had resided since June of 2001. Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 AM - Noon at the Furness Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in Clark. They will be private. The Reverend Warren Rhodes will officiate. Burial will follow the private services at Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Casketbearers will be family members. Billie Gervaise Strain Steffen was born on November 28, 1924 at Milbank, SD, the daughter of William and Cora (Nado) Strain. She grew to adulthood in the Milbank/Big Stone area attending school in Big Stone City. On October 9, 1944 she was united in marriage to Ollie Steffen at Bellingham, MN. The couple lived and farmed near Bellingham until 1954 when they moved to Clark County, Section 22 of Thorp Township, SW of Bradley, SD. She worked for the Foster's during potato harvest for several seasons. In the mid 1980's the Steffen's moved to Watertown for a short time and moved back to a farm north of Clark. Mr. Steffen died on January 14 of this year. Some of her fondest moments were spent reading a book, eating a piece (or two) of chocolate and drinking a cup of coffee. Survivors who are grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Michael and wife Mary of Watertown, Stacey and wife Nancy of Garden City and Vicki and friend Randy of Pierre. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Susan, James, Sandra, Robert, Anna, Jenni, Matt and Mitch; 8 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Chelsea, Jerad, Hannah, Hudson Oliver, Hayse, Logan and Shelby and a sister, Harryette Tobin of Milbank. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and siblings, Suzanne, Floyd, Anthony, Peg, Earl "Shorty", Loren "Rocky", Dee, Verna, Ursula, Leath, Lela, and a sibling in infancy.
