Betty Paulson

Betty Jean (Anderson) Paulson passed away peacefully on June 16, 2016, surrounded by her beloved children. Her legacy—kindness towards all, a gracious and welcoming spirit, and unconditional love of family—lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. There will be a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Furness Funeral Home. Furness Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Betty was born in Willow Lake, SD on September 23, 1933, to Ralph and Leona Anderson. After graduating from Clark High School in 1951 she worked for the telephone company in Clark and then in Watertown, SD. On December 6, 1952, Betty married the love of her life, Arnold Paulson, beginning a beautiful journey that lasted sixty years. They lived in six states during the next few decades as needed to follow Arnold's career moves, ultimately living in Bismarck, ND for twenty years and then retiring to Woodbury, MN in 1993 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They stayed in Woodbury until Arnold's death in 2013. Betty then moved to Menomonie, WI and had been a resident of Neighbors of Dunn County care community for the last two years.

Betty and Arnold considered themselves blessed to have made many friends far and wide due to their moves, and she continued to stay in touch with many of them. Betty enjoyed painting and sewing, and was a wonderful cook. All who were blessed to know Betty have witnessed her devotion to God and her family, serving as a great role model for her children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she kept her sharp wit even in the face of hard times. Arnold would often say that Betty was the wind beneath his wings.

Left with warm memories, many life lessons, and with heavy hearts are her children Cynthia Gehrmann (Dick) of Eau Claire, WI, Debra Gonstead (Dan) of Menomonie, WI, Tamra Wittenberg (Mark) of Yorkville, WI, and Douglas Paulson (LaRae) of Stillwater, MN; her beloved grandchildren, Lucas (Kate) Gonstead, Lindsay Danielson, Christa (Justin) Wittenberg Lindh, Sara Gonstead, Michael Danielson, Kelli (Joshua) Mishleau, Matthew Paulson, and Joshua Paulson; great-grandchildren Abby and Kaiden, and greatgrandson Zachary; her sisters Cleo Mann(Gene) and Bonnie Rosenau(Darrel), sisters-in-law Shirley Anderson, Nyla Anderson, and Grace Paulson, brothers-in-law Gaylon Bratland and Norris Johnson, best friend Moiney Tehveen, and many other friends and extended family members.

Along with her husband Arnold, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Leona Anderson, her sister Carolyn Bratland, her brothers Kenneth Anderson, Lavern Anderson, and John Anderson, sister-in-law Cheryl Anderson, and brother-in-law Donally Fjelland.
