Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2PM in the Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ at Clark with Pastor Donna Nickels officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark with an Eastern Star service beginning at 6:30 PM all in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Bernice E. Murray, age 92, Watertown, the widow of Raymond Murray, died on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Beverly Healthcare Center at Lake Norden where she has resided the past year. She was born at Clark, SD on December 4, 1911, the daughter of Earl W. and Jessie (Taylor) Anderson. She attended Clark School graduating from Clark High School in 1929. Following her high school education, she attended and graduated from Northern Normal at Aberdeen with a teaching certificate. She then began a career in teaching 1st grade in area schools, a career that spanned for some 36 years. On October 12, 1932 she was united in marriage to Raymond H. Murray at Watertown. Her husband was Superintendent of School for many years as well. She taught for 3 years in country schools, Ash Consolidated School for 6 years, Doland for 4 years, Egan for 3 years and then in the Miller School System for 20 years. In 1970 the couple returned to Clark and lived here until retiring and moving to Lake Kampeska in 1973, spending the summers at the lake and winters in Arizona and California. Mr. Murray died in 1992. She continued living at the lake until moving into Maple Place and in April of 2003 to Lake Norden. Her church affiliations over the years included the Presbyterian Church at Miller, First Congregational Church at Watertown and the Plymouth Congregational Church at Clark where she was active in Womens Fellowship and Circles. She was a longtime member of the Peace Chapter Order of Eastern Star Raymond/Clark and the PEO at Watertown. Some of her hobbies included crocheting and walking, but her fondest moments were spent reading, especially Danielle Steele novels. Survivors include 3 nieces, including Vici Faehnrich of Watertown, 2 nephews, 15 grand nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a brother, Eugene Anderson, sisters, Dorothy Pedersen and Earline Hurlbut Brothanek and a niece and nephew.
