Arthur "Art" Tarbox, age 82, Bradley, died in the Golden Living Center at Watertown early Saturday morning, August 7, 2010. He had resided in the care center since June of 2009.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 AM, August 13, 2010 at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Roger Shepherd will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie Hill Cemetery at Bradley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7PM at the funeral home chapel and after 9AM on Friday morning prior to services.
The casketbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandson, Ryan and Erica Caulfield, Carmen Kasin, Corey and Nicole Kasin, Tyler and Jamie Tarbox and Malik Dunn. The music will be provided by Jennifer Rott.
Mr. Tarbox was born on January 29, 1928 near Bradley, the son of Henry Andrew and Jessie Maud Beatrice (King) Tarbox. He attended school at the Thorp Consolidated School. Following his schooling he began farming south of Bradley. He was united in marriage to Lela Whitlock on March 26, 1949 at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Clark. The couple continued his farming operation south of Bradley.
During the 1950s, Art and Lela operated a caf in Bradley for several years. Art also worked for the Standard Oil Company in Bradley and enjoyed helping out a few area farmers, among them being the Ernest Yexley family and Russell Neal. He enjoyed hunting pheasants and deer and enjoyed working with his horses and his milk cows.
The Tarboxs remained on their farm until entering the Golden Living Center in Watertown in June of 2009.
Among survivors grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Lela of the Golden Living Center in Watertown; one son, Harry (Darlene) Tarbox of Bradley; one daughter, Nancy (Harris) Kasin of Wallace; four grandchildren, Carmen Kasin, Corey (Nicole) Kasin, Erica (Ryan) Caulfield and Tyler (Jamie) Tarbox; one great grandson, Malik Dunn; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William (Maxine) Tarbox, Leonard (Dena) Tarbox and Horace (Hazel) Tarbox; and one sister Edith (George) Moe.
