Arnold C. "Arnie" Lohr, age 89, Henry, died peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown after a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue after 11AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 1PM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with Pastor LeRoy Wasland officiating. Dorothy Fuller will be the pianist with Greg Furness as soloist. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Lorinda Cemetery at Henry. The great grandchildren will be the honorary casketbearers with the grandchildren serving as active casketbearers. He was born Arnold Carroll Lohr on December 25, 1923 at Watertown, SD, the son of Raymond and Hilda (Bucholz) Lohr. He attended school at Watertown. Arnold served his country honorably during the end of World War 11 from April 9, 1946 until September 27, 1947. In March 30, 1950 he was united in marriage to Irene Bernice Kuno at Redwood Falls, MN. To this union three children were born, Janice, Thomas and Robert. The couple lived in Minnesota when they were first married and during the installation of the rural electric, they made their home at Watertown and Faith, SD. He also worked for the railroad for a short time. In the mid 1950's they moved to Milwaukee, WI where worked as a back-hoe operator for the City of Milwaukee for over 29 years. He retired and the couple moved to Henry, SD in 1984. Irene passed away on February 18, 2010. His love of gardening, both vegetables and flowers, especially his tulip beds, will long be remembered. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife and 4 siblings, Harold, Merle, Wendell and Viola. Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Janice Timm and fiancé Roger Capehart of Doland, Thomas A. and Robert Lohr both of Henry, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
