Arlyn was born in Clark on December 13, 1939, the son of Edward and LaVerne (Kruthoff) Helkenn. He attended country school in Fordham Township and then graduated from Logan High School. Following his schooling he continued working on the family farm, something he has done continuously since, until his health failed in recent time. "Um" or "Unc" as he was known to many loved the land and working it on a daily basis. In younger years he played baseball on the Raymond Legion team and hunted pheasants.
Grateful for having shared his life are his siblings, Wayne (Mary Darlene) Helkenn of Raymond, Gene (Carolyn) Helkenn, Norman (Joyce) Helkenn, Dale (Lavonne) Helkenn and Rolland "Butch" (Betty) Helkenn, an aunt, Kathryn Becker all of Clark, many nephews, nieces and a host of cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Patsy Wallum.
Arrangements are announced by the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com.
