Anna Mae (Mrs. Lynell) Popham, age 83, Florence, died peacefully with family at her side in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown on Monday morning, September 15, 2014 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5-7PM with a Liturgical Wake service beginning at 7PM all in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at Florence. Visitation will continue after 9AM at the Church on Friday morning. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10AM in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at Florence with The Reverend John Short officiating. The organist will be Carolyn Maag with the song leader and special music by LeeAnn Maag. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Esterly Cemetery near Florence. She was born Anna Mae Janssen on June 3, 1931 at Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of William D. and Johanna (Stickfort) Janssen. She attended school at Dempster, Dell Rapids including the Cozy Cottage Country School and then graduated from Estelline High School. On February 2, 1956 she was united in marriage to Lynell DeWayne Popham at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Henry. During her lifetime she lived and worked in Dempster, the Rozen Ford Garage, and Sioux Valley Greenhouse and at Midcom. She was a longtime faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Florence. Some of the things she will long be remembered for will be her joy of cooking, baking and gardening. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Marvin (Joy) Janssen and brothers-in-law Lloyd Christenson and Ralph Callesen. Survivors include her husband of over 58 years, Lynell Popham of Florence, children, Richard Popham of Seattle, WA, David (Sandy) Popham of Kersey, CO, Kenneth (Theresa) Popham of Webster, Jeffery (Tracy) Popham of Henry, Patty (Vince) Rauen of Goodwin, SD and Lori (Paul) Kraai of Watertown, 8 grandchildren, Krista Zellner, Newt, Taylor, Samantha, Tannor & Karyssa Popham, Colter Zellner and Tucker Popham and a great-grandson, Mason Popham. Also surviving are siblings, Elmina Christenson of Estelline, William (Darlene) Janssen of Castlewood and Viola Callesen of Sioux Falls.
