She was born Anna Pearl Peppers in Kentucky on May 28, 1930, the daughter of William F. and Nancy E. Peppers. She grew up and attended school in Tennessee. Anna moved to Illinois where she married Freeman Thomason in 1949. The couple lived in Granite City, IL. To this union 2 daughters were born, Brenda and Nancy. The marriage later ended in divorce. Anna then met, dated and married Robert "Bob" Foster, a young serviceman from South Dakota. After his release from the service, the couple returned to the Foster home near Garden City, SD. To this union 2 children were born, Keith and Peggy.
Bob died at the young age of 33 in 1965 leaving Ann with 4 children at home. She and the children moved into Clark a short time later. She met Ron O'Connor and later married him at the courthouse in Huron on November 11, 1967. They had one child, John Frank, who died at birth. The couple would have been married 50 years in November.
Over the years she enjoyed countless hours of bowling and working crossword and word search puzzles. In her free moments she was a mighty Atlanta Braves and Denver Broncos fan. Anna, "Ann", "Annie" as she was known to many, worked for several years for Larkin Potato Company and then as a waitress at several local restaurants including the Bowling Alley, M & M Café, Clark Golf Club, The Imperial, and for many years at The Time Out. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with the hunters during hunting season and the special banquets served over the years at the Lookout.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her second husband, Robert Foster, 2 sons, Keith and John Frank, a daughter, Peggy, and siblings, Lucille, Roy, Mattie, Thomas, William, and Dorothy.
Survivors include her husband Ron of Clark, daughters, Brenda (Stan) Jongbloed of Watertown, and Nancy (Stacey) Steffen of Clark, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
