Anna Mae Hartley

Anna Mae (Audus) Hartley, age 80, of Garden City, passed away on May 4, 2014 at Prairie Lakes Healthcare with family at her side after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 8th at the United Methodist Church in Garden City with Pastor Jen Tyler officiating. Music will be provided by Dorothy Fuller, organist and Jenna Hulscher, soloist. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7th from 4 to 7 pm at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and will continue at the church on Thursday prior to the services. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The active aasketbearers will be Jeff Hartley, Adam Hartley, Doug Loomis, Scott Hansen,Jed Hansen and Warren Armbruster with the ushers being Rick Woehlhaff & Russ Foster Anna Mae Hartley, the daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth (Miller) Audus, was born July 3, 1933 in rural Clark County, SD. She attended Thorp School, graduating in 1951. On July 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Hartley at the Garden City United Methodist Church. They farmed in Maydell Township, Clark County until retirement. She taught at the Maydell School near Garden City and was also a homemaker and assisted on the farm. During her life, she worked on the potato harvesters and was also employed by KDLO TV, McCain Foods, and Dacotah Bank. Lloyd passed away on September 19, 2005. Anna was a charter member of the Learn-A-Long Homemakers Club, having been a member for 57 years at the time of her death. She was also a 4-H leader for the Garden City Belles 4-H Club, a member of the Heath Headley American Legion Auxiliary, the Garden City United Methodist Church and its UMW group. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and especially time spent with her family. Her grandchildren will tell you she made the best date cookies around. Anna is survived by her three sons, Lynn (Barb) of Henry, Randy (Sheri Koska) of Watertown and Terry (Chrisse) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; five grandchildren, Jacki (Brad) Nichols of Tucson, AZ, Jeff Hartley of Stanfield, AZ, Adam (Laci) Hartley of Henry, Lori (Rick) Hyland of Ramona and Jenna (Jim) Hulscher of Goodwin; eleven great-grandchildren, Ben, Zachary and Elliot Nichols, Brodie, Aubrie and Tate Hartley, Bailey, Brooklyn and Ray Hyland and Grady and Addison Hulscher; three brothers , John Audus of Clark, Wesley (Mary Ann) Audus of Rochester, MN, and Ethan (Darlene) Audus of Clark; two sisters, Clara Hector, Lake Havasu City, AZ and Mary (Virgil) Eckhoff, Sioux Falls; and four sisters-in-law, Arlene Audus of Watertown, Betty Audus of Sherman, TX, Loreyn Hartley of Johnstown CO, Liane Hartley of Jamestown ND, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, her parents, brothers James, Walter, and Donald, two sisters in infancy, a sister-in-law Edith, brothers-in-law Carroll & Harold Hartley and Ralph (Hazel) Hartley and a great-granddaughter, Angel Hartley.
