Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 5-7PM with a Liturgical Wake service beginning at 7PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with The Revered Daniel Smith leading. Visitation will continue at the Church in Henry on Tuesday morning after 9AM.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the St. Henry's Catholic Church at Henry with burial in the Church Cemetery. The Reverend Paul Rutten will lead the Mass. Music will be provided by Carolyn and Leeann Maag. The honorary casketbearers will be her granddaughters with the active casketbearers being the grandsons.
She was born Anna Gallisath on September 14, 1921 at Watertown, the daughter of Fred and Rosena (Maag) Gallisath. At the age of 5, she moved with her parents to a farm near Thomas, SD where she attended school, graduating from Thomas High School in 1939.
Following high school, she enrolled in Notre Dame Academy at Mitchell, SD and graduated in 1940 with a teaching certificate. She taught rural school until her marriage to John Dalton in 1943.
The couple lived and farmed near Henry until 1973. While on the farm, she was an aide in the Henry school for three years. They moved to Watertown in 1973. While living in Watertown she worked at Whiz's Diner, Stockman's Café, Herberger's, Quadee Rubber, The Drake Motor Inn, and St. Ann's Hospital until her retirement from there in 1989. Ann then assisted ill patients in their homes until her husband became handicapped and then cared for him until he entered Jenkins Living Center in January of 2000. John died later that year in November of 2000.
After John's death, she did volunteer work at Jenkins Living Center and also with the Senior Companion Association. She became a resident of Jenkins Living Center in October of 2011.
She had been a long time member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and since in Watertown, the Immaculate Conception Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a son, Keith, one sister, Helen, and three brothers, Marvin, Loren, and Richard.
Survivors include her seven children, Sharon (Quenton) Sonnenfeld of Golden, CO, Marlin (Barb) Dalton of Bedford, NH, Kenneth (Marilynn) Dalton of Littleton, CO, Carol (Gerald) Hanten of Webster, Lowell (Barb) Dalton of Clark, Donna (Steve) Johnson of Watertown, and Duane (Angela) Dalton of Sioux Falls. She has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Gloria Gallisath of Watertown, and Phyllis Johnson of Philip.
