Ann L. Ludwig

Ann Ludwig, age 80 of Watertown, died Thursday afternoon, August 8, 2019 at the Sanford USD Medical Center of Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night, August 14, 2019 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home of Clark and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday morning.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, August 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church of Watertown. Jerod Jordan will be the officiant. The casketbearers will be a Grandson - Randy Dreyer Jr, and nephews - David Swanson, Darwin Clyde, Rodney Clyde,  Jackson Knox, and Danny Knox.  The honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren and all other nieces and nephews.

Ann LaReine Ludwig was born October 5, 1938 to Clifford and Ethel (Torper) Knox in Alexander, Iowa. She grew up and went to Clark Schools graduating in 1956. Ann also graduated from business classes at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD.

She married Ron Dreyer at Clark and had three boys from this marriage.

She married Marvin Hilbrands at Watertown in 1972. They resided in Watertown and she worked at Woolworth's Lunch Counter and they also had their own janitorial business.

In 1993, she married Keith Ludwig. He was a motel superintendent so they traveled the United States building motels until they retired to Watertown.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Senior Citizens, RSVP and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Ann loved to dance and did with great enjoyment until she suffered a stroke in early 2000. She suffered some more strokes in 2000 and 2001 which limited the use of her left arm and leg. This did not interfere with her love of using the computer to read on the internet, email her friends and family, and to play her favorite game Free-Cell. Ann loved to walk her dog Bridgette, play cards with friends, watch her 'soaps', drink coffee, read the newspaper and to keep current with what was happening. She was always up-beat and always said "God does not close one door without opening another".

She is survived by her three children, Ron (Marnee) of Watertown, Randy (Yong) of Burke, VA, Rick (Fran) of Blaine, MN; three grandchildren, Chaundra and Amanda, Randy, Jr.; and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Darlene (Burton) Langendorfer of Omaha, NE and Jeanette (Gene) Swanson of Watertown; one brother Jack (Sharon) of Watertown, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Donna Clyde, four brothers Ron, Jerry, Roger, and Dennis Knox and three infant brothers.
