Angela K. (Mrs. Merrill) Seefeldt, age 89, of Clark, died surrounded by her family members on Tuesday afternoon, February 12, 2013 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 16th, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark. The Rev. John Short will officiate and a spring burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark with a Scriptural wake service at 5:30 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Angela Kathleen (Becking) Seefeldt was born November 1, 1923 near Florence in Codington County to Anthony "Anton" and Kate (Lorang) Becking. She attended Esterly country school and graduated from Florence High School. She then attended Northern State Teachers College where she earned her teaching certificate; later she attended USD. Angela returned to the Florence area to teach in the one-room Esterly and Hillview schools. She eventually taught in the upper elementary levels at Clark and lived at the Emiline Mann home. On May 31, 1959 Angela married Merrill (M.H.) Seefeldt and joined him in his farming and ranching operation. Angela was an excellent cook and baker and anyone who was at the farm at mealtime was invited to a full-course farm meal. Angela enjoyed decorating birthday cakes for her grandchildren. Her other outdoor interests were gardening and bird watching; she also enjoyed raising German Shepherd puppies. Her educational background and interest in youth led her to tutor students in the summer. Angela received the State of South Dakota Award of Excellence, Rural School Teacher Award in 1986. Angela taught CCD classes at St. Michaels Catholic Church where she was also a member of the altar society. She also was a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the neighborhood Happy Bunch Club. She enjoyed traveling and while in college participated in the summer bus travel program which took her throughout the United States. She also traveled to Washington DC with a Farmers Union trip and went on several Dacotah Bank day trips. Angela also enjoyed visiting and staying with her west-river relatives in the summer. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 52 years, Merrill Seefeldt of Clark and her step-daughters Marilyn (Walter) Steiger of Clark and Donna (Bill) Reidburn of Watertown. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Brenda (Todd) Jenkins and Rod Steiger of Clark, Chris (Ali) Reidburn of Watertown and Renee (Mike) LeBrun of Mitchell. Angela is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Tony (Heather), Becky and Tyson Jenkins, Liam and Austin Reidburn and Luke and Lawson LeBrun and two great-great-grandchildren Izabella and Sophia Jenkins. Also surviving Angela are her sister-in-law Mildred Drake and her Becking family nieces: Mildred (Jack) Thomas, Karen (Dwayne) Murphy, Karyl (Virgil) Wishard, Karen Becking and nephew David (Laurie) Becking. She is also survived by special friends Steve and Marlene Dreher and family. Angela was preceded in death by her mother, Kate, and father, Anton, her brother Edward Becking and sister-in-law Nellie, her sister Alice Becking, nephew Richard Becking and, her sisters and brothers-in-law Myrtle and Bob McGraw, Merritt, Edna and Geneve Seefeldt and Bert Drake.
