Agnes May Habben

Agnes May (Bierce) Habben was born on July 3, 1926 to Burton Bierce and Agnes Cox in Delavan, WI. She recently passed while residing at the Clark Care Center under hospice in the early morning hours of August 20, 2022. Agnes grew up in the area of Withy, WI until she was of high school age. She then left home to be on her own and to make a living for herself.  She worked in a sausage factory in McKeesport, PA for some time and then moved on to Brainerd, MN where she worked as a waitress and cook in the diner. There she met Joseph Nuttbrock of whom she married on May 23, 1948. They had three children, Jerry, Pat and Cindy. While busy raising her family, they moved to Clark, SD where Joe worked as a mechanic for T. Thompson. Within a few years Joe accepted a job offer as a mechanic at Wegman Implement in Raymond, SD. The years passed as the children grew and left home. Joe passed away in July of 1969 after which Agnes went to work at the Clark Bowling Alley.

She later married Kenneth Habben on April 30, 1970. She continued to work at the Bowling Alley until she and Kenny went to work together at McCain Foods in Clark. Agnes and Kenny also worked together on their farm taking care of their sheep, pigs and even did a little grain farming. When it came time, they retired at the same time to spend their golden years together. Kenny succumbed to cancer and passed away in July 2003. Agnes continued to reside in their house in Raymond, and continued her relationship with the Lord attending church at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran, and reading her Bible and studying devotions. She also enjoyed very much attending family gatherings, her shopping trips with her daughter and watching her soap operas. She later moved to Roetell Senior Living, where she very much enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with everyone.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Kenny and her daughter Patricia (Nuttbrock) Hill who last resided in Mobridge, SD.

She is survived by her son Jerry (Pat) Nuttbrock, who resides in Raymond and daughter Cynthia (Nuttbrock) Beving, who resides in Clark; her grandkids Earl, Joleen, Dayton, J.R., Valorie, Christy, Dean and Laura; and her great grandkids.
