David John Waldner, age 66, of Hillcrest Colony near Garden City, SD, died peacefully on Monday morning, July 12, 2010, at his home. Dave was the Secretary of Hillcrest Colony.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 2PM at the Hillcrest Colony with burial following in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5PM at the Waldner home on Tuesday with a wake service beginning at 9PM in the Church at the colony. Visitation resumes on Wednesday morning in the home until service time.

David was born on August 13, 1943 at Alexandria, SD, the son of The Reverend John and Sarah (Hofer) Waldner.

He lived at Riverside Colony near Huron until moving to Hillcrest Colony in 1978.

On May 3, 1970 he was united in marriage to Justina Waldner, the daughter of Paul and Annie Waldner of Huron Colony.

He dedicated his life as a secretary of the colony and serving the community. David was a secretary for 30 years. His main priority was to always put the colony first.

Survivors include his loving wife, Justina, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years of marriage and his 7 children and 15 grandchildren:

Susie Waldner and Helen Waldner both of Hillcrest Colony and many, many friends and other relatives.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah, two brothers, Jacob and George Waldner, a sister in infancy, Susanna Waldner, in-laws, Paul and Annie Waldner, brother in law, Pete Wurz and three grandchildren in infancy, Calen, Elijah and Kaylee.
